Of the Thirteen Houses, Night-Blooming Cereus is and has always been First. It was founded by Enediel Vintesoir some six hundred years past, and from it has grown the Night Court proper. Enediel Vintesoir was a Servant of Naamah and the founder of Cereus House,the first House of the Court of Night-Blooming Flowers, from which the Thirteen Houses of the Night Court grew. Vintesoir founded Cereus House around six hundred years prior to the time of Terre d'Ange's King Ganelon de la Courcel's reign and since that time, it was customary that the Dowayne of Cereus House held a seat on the City Judiciary in the City of Elua. In Vintesoir's time, Cereus House served only Naamah and the scions of Elua, but in time its clientele expanded to include individuals of more bourgeois status, such as the father of Phèdre nó Delaunay, Pierre Cantrel.
