Etienne was a young boy who was fostered as an apprentice at Cereus House at the same time as Phèdre. He had a half-sister named Ellyn and was younger than both her and Phèdre. He was a pretty child, with cherubic curls of palest gold and, like the other fosterlings at Cereus House, had little in common with Phèdre. The year that Phèdre attended her first Midwinter Masque, Etienne was too young and had to stay in the nursery.
