Summary[]
Phèdre wakes in a cart with Joscelin, memory returning to her. Neither of them know where they are. Phèdre remembers Melisande's torture. Joscelin tries to figure out who is holding them, but Phèdre warns him against this, realizing there are trained men who will kill them, likely Isidore d'Aiglemort's men. Phèdre is heartsick, knowing that she was the tool that Melisande used to flush out Delaunay's allies.
The pair are held at a camp where Joscelin attempts to break them free, but they are soon overwhelmed and drugged again. For the rest of their journey they are drugged and kept in the cart until the Camaeline men sell them into slavery with the Skaldi.
