Brother Louvel was a D'Angeline priest of Elua who was once an adept of Gentian House before a patron bought his marque, freeing him to pursue his dreams of being a priest and ministering to children.
He taught Phèdre and the other young fosterlings of Cereus House the story of Elua and his companions, visiting them weekly. Phèdre loved Louvel as a child because he was beautiful and because of stories of Naamah, Elua and the other companions that he taught her. One the final day of teaching Phèdre and the other children the Eluine Cycle, he brought them the gift of a spay of anemones, which were fastened to the children's plackets with a long pin. On that day Phèdre, at seven years old, deliberately pricked her finger with the pin, an act which revealed to the Dowayne, Miriam Bouscevre, that she would have been meant for Valerian House had the Night Court accepted her.
Louvel had long, fair hair bound in a braid and eyes the color of deep ocean, with a dreamer's voice.
