Prince of the Blood or Princess of the Blood for females was the title given to members of House Courcel, the royal family of Terre d'Ange. All kin to the reigning King or Queen of Terre d'Ange were considered Princes of the Blood, except for their immediate heir, who was called the Dauphin. D'Angeline matrimonial law also dictated that kin to the spouse the King or Queen were also Princes of the Blood as was the case with Percy de Somerville, whose mother was related to Queen Genevieve, the wife of King Ganelon de la Courcel.[1] The Battle of Three Princes was so named for the three Princes of the Blood who commanded the D'Angeline forces, de Somerville, Benedicte de la Courcel and Rolande de la Courcel.
